 ABOUT THE STUDIO

MAYCOTTE + COULSON is a design collaborative between architects Marco Antonio Maycotte (currently working at BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group London) and Alexander Coulson (based in Denmark) formed around the project BitPark. The collaboration began as an informal exploration into the potential of water as a unifying public space for cities. From the collaboration a formal project developed with the aim of challenging cities to up-their-game in regards to the use of urban blue spaces.

‘’Our collaboration began from a concern for our cities, as well as a concern for the environment. We recognize we have big challenges and we want to make an impact in shaping our future. BitPark is an ambitious look at the relationship between cities and water. With it we are attempting to tackle critical issues like social cohesion in the face of raising diversity, and local sustainable food production in the age of food insecurity. We don’t simply want to find solutions to problems. We want to leverage opportunities found in the changing city to offer something better than what is there currently. We are pairing proven concepts of space with our generational grasp of technology and sustainability to bring about a paradigm shift in our cities.’’
